Aimed at enhancing national competitiveness and reducing reliance on foreign chipmakers, the act has already generated $327 billion in industry commitments to build facilities in the U.S., positioning the country to increase its stake in producing the world's most advanced semiconductors.

The USPTO has since implemented stricter controls to prevent further incidents and reassures them that there is no evidence of misuse of the exposed data.
