This live, hands-on workshop will give you the skills to design, build, and deploy secure, scalable REST APIs that integrate seamlessly with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — the backbone of agent-to-agent AI in manufacturing.

You’ll learn REST architecture principles, industrial API design patterns, and FastAPI implementation techniques, then apply them directly in coding exercises. Along the way, you’ll see how properly built APIs enable AI agents, MCP servers, and digital manufacturing systems to exchange data reliably and at scale.

Day 1: REST Foundations for MCP – Monday, Sept 29 

• REST principles, industrial design patterns, and URL/resource modeling

• HTTP methods, status codes, and security fundamentals for manufacturing contexts

Day 2: FastAPI Implementation & MCP Integration – Tuesday, Sept 30 

• Live coding: CRUD operations, authentication, and versioning

• Applying REST APIs in MCP and AI agent use cases

Requirements

• A computer with internet access

• Basic understanding of industrial systems (PLC, SCADA, MES)

• Familiarity with basic programming concepts (Python experience helpful but not required)

• Curiosity and willingness to explore modern API and data integration architectures

• No prior MCP or REST API experience required
